a first date oh my gods erm I would say somewhere thats not too loud so that you can talk to your date but not so quiet that if things dont go as well as would be hoped that the long awkward silences make both parties feel uncomfortable and lead to a negative experience. Id probably say dinner and then a bar for a few drinks

I have always wanted to try as a first date no less a picnic I know it sounds lame and almost pathetic but nice weather not too hot not too cold a decent spread of food out in a not too busy park I just think it has a real element of charm about it and is a nice relaxed atmosphere
